CIA-made ISIL monster spawns terrorism: Ex-US Marine

Press TV has conducted an interview with Kenneth O’Keefe, a former US Marine and peace activist, from London, to discuss the situation in the Middle East.

What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview.

Press TV: What do you make of this? On the one hand many would say that the US is at least partially behind the formation of ISIL. However, now it has declared a war on ISIL.

O’Keefe: It fits very nicely. I absolutely agree. I don’t even see how there can be any debate about whether or not the United States through its proxies, mainly Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, they have been funding these psychopaths.

We see them running around in the best American equipment: body armor, armored personnel carriers, they’ve received training. This is all very well established. In Jordan and other places in the Middle East, also in Turkey, they’ve been allowed to flood across the borders. All of the borders adjacent to Iraq and Syria, mainly Turkey and Jordan, have been opened up so that these psychopaths can run around.

All of this has been done under the auspice of getting rid of the latest Hitler in the eyes of the West, which is Bashar al-Assad.

For many years we’ve been funding these psychopaths. Really, all they are is just a rebranded form of al-Qaeda, which of course indebateably nothing more than a creation of the CIA. We go back to the Mujahideen and the fight against the Soviet invasion and so on and so forth. This is a creation, a monster, a Frankenstein created by us. It’s been funded by us, and if we wanted to stop its existence all we would have to do is stop funding it. But of course the powers that be want no part of that.
Press TV: What do you make of some analysts saying the US is now using this as a backdoor to actively do what they wanted to do more than three years ago, and that is to basically remove the Assad government? -Your take on that.

O’Keefe: I absolutely agree with that. Of course what will happen is just like the Libya campaign where NATO took the frontline role – we talk about a no-fly zone, but really what that was was a means to be able to hit the targets that were essential for the defense of Libya under Gaddafi. Of course we see Libya now, the basket-case nation that it is, the failed-state nation that it is.

We see the same pattern in Iraq. We see this pattern continuously in Afghanistan. We are the ones that supposedly fought a war on terror in the aftermath of 9/11 and ever since this insane war on terror, which is nothing more than a state-sponsored war of terror, we have seen the rise and increasing terrorists elements within the Middle East.
I don’t know why anybody thinks that this will be any different. In fact, that is the long-term goal of the powers that be, they are happy to see this kind of fanaticism because it justifies the continuation of the propping of the military industrial complex and the never ending cycle of war. Keep in mind that the banksters, the ones that run the world, they want war. War is good for them.

It is the people, the rest of us who are saying we are the ones that must stop this madness. Really, the key to that is ending the petro-dollars system that allows an unlimited amount of funds going to these psychopaths.

Press TV: Do you think the American people are okay with this? –Because they are quite war-weary after Iraq and after Afghanistan, and actually a month ago when polls were taken they were absolutely against getting involved in the situation in Syria or war in general.

However, it appears with this situation with ISIL and of course the constant images that we have of gruesome killings by this group, it has sort of started making a change with the perspective of a lot of Americans. How do you see it overall?

O’Keefe: I don’t think we can underestimate the power of propaganda. Although the power of propaganda has been diminishing over the last 10 years, in particular in the aftermath of 9/11, we would be foolish to think that the American people are so tuned in and dialed in and understanding of what’s really going on that they wouldn’t be duped into yet another war that will do nothing but destroy everyone who is a participant in it.

I don’t know if they’re going to succeed in getting any kind of level of real consent and support in the United States.

But it wouldn’t surprise me, and ultimately it returns us back to the same point, which is as long as we have this petro-dollar system with private bankers running the world through an infinite supply of money, they will channel that money to these types of psychopaths who will carry out policies which are actually advantageous to them.
