A prominent Iranian legislator called on the Egyptian people to keep vigilant against the conspiracies and plots hatched by the enemies to disunite the Muslim nation.
“Instead of such clashes, the Egyptian people had better seek the best solution, and avoid conflict and violence if there are differences of opinion among them,” member of the parliament’s Presiding Board Seyed Baqer Hosseini said on Friday.

He noted that the Egyptians should be vigilant against the enemies’ plots aimed at disuniting them.

On Thursday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also called for an end to the unrest in Egypt, saying the continuation of violence in the Arab country will “harm a strong pillar in the region,” which will lead to a rise in the number of casualties on all sides, and that will only serve the interests of the enemy.

Egypt plunged into violence after the country’s army ousted President Mohammed Mursi, suspended the constitution, and dissolved the parliament on July 3. The military overthrow followed days of mass protests against Mursi.

The army also declared chief justice of Egypt’s Supreme Constitutional Court, Adly Mansour, as interim president.

Earlier this month, the Egyptian Prosecutor General ordered the arrest of Muslim Brotherhood leaders, including the supreme leader of the group, Mohammed Badie, on charges of inciting violence.

Many people have been killed in violent clashes involving supporters and opponents of Mursi and security forces over the past few days, with more than 80 deaths reported on July 8 alone.
