Culture can bring nations together

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says principles such as justice, purity, freedom and respect for others can bring nations closer together.

In a meeting with Speaker of Uruguay’s House of Representatives Ivonne Passada in Tehran on Tuesday, the Iranian president stressed that the two countries can work towards further enhancing reciprocal ties by exploring common grounds.

President Ahmadinejad underscored that nations need “a new understanding” of one another, particularly on the cultural front.

“Culture is the main link which connects nations and people, and if the cultural common ground that nations share is well explored and emphasized, many of the problems facing the human community will be solved,” said the president.

“Gone are the days when global management was marked by monopoly and expansionism,” Ahmadinejad said.

“The key problems facing the human community emanate from the style of management imposed by a few countries on the global stage. They have taken control of the world without being committed to the cultural common ground shared by nations,” he said.

Ahmadinejad urged all nations and governments to freely contribute to global management to overcome expansionist policies, adding that the “new world order requires the cooperation of all nations.”

He then described Iran-Uruguay relations as positive and said mutual parliamentary relations can lead to further expansion of ties between the two countries.
