Escalating Gaza Conflict: Palestinian Death Toll Surpasses 85 Amid Eid al-Fitr Tensions

As Palestinians celebrate the second day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, signaling the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, new Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of over two dozen individuals, including children.

According to a report by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, three civilians lost their lives on Monday when Israeli forces conducted a targeted operation in the area of al-Masdar village, located in central Gaza.

Two additional fatalities have been reported, along with several injuries, following an airstrike by Israeli warplanes targeting a group of individuals situated east of Jabalia.

A child sustained injuries in the Bureij camp in the central Gaza Strip when a remote-controlled Israeli quadcopter dropped an explosive device in the yard of a school associated with the United Nations. The school is currently serving as a shelter for Palestinians who have been forcibly displaced.

Four individuals lost their lives and a number of others sustained injuries following an Israeli airstrike that targeted a residence owned by the Maqdad family in the Khan Yunis refugee camp during the early hours.

Two more civilians have tragically lost their lives, and several others, including children, have sustained injuries following a bombardment targeting a family home in the Wadi Saber neighborhood of Abasan al-Kabira, situated in the southern Gaza Strip.

According to local sources, military operations by Israeli forces in the Az-Zawayda and Maghazi refugee camps, located in central Gaza, have resulted in the deaths of at least two individuals and have left others injured.

Six civilians lost their lives late Sunday when Israeli forces targeted a residential building near the Tahlia roundabout in central Khan Yunis.

On Sunday evening, a devastating incident occurred in which nine individuals, among them a couple and their three children, lost their lives, and multiple others sustained injuries following an aerial attack by the Israeli military on a residential apartment in Hamad City, located in the northwestern region of Khan Yunis.

Reports have emerged of relentless artillery shelling targeting the central region of the Gaza Strip, specifically impacting the Nuseirat refugee camp and areas in close proximity to the Netzarim Corridor.

Reports from Deir el-Balah indicate that explosions have occurred, resulting in the deaths of three farmers.

According to reports from Civil Defense teams and paramedics, retrieving the bodies is deemed highly dangerous.

The situation unfolds as reports indicate that a minimum of 64 Palestinians lost their lives on the initial day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The Palestinian Hamas resistance movement has issued a strong condemnation of Israel for the killing of civilians during Eid, highlighting that the victims included children dressed in their festive attire.

The approach is alleged to expose what critics describe as Israel’s “fascism and its disregard for human and moral values.”

The Israeli military initiated an unexpected airstrike on the Gaza Strip on March 18, resulting in the deaths of over 920 individuals and injuring more than 2,000. This operation effectively broke the ceasefire agreement with Hamas, as well as the accord concerning the exchange of Israeli captives for Palestinian prisoners.

The Health Ministry in Gaza has reported that the ongoing Israeli military operations have resulted in the deaths of over 50,200 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, while more than 114,000 others have sustained injuries since the escalation began on October 7, 2023.
