Death toll hits 25 in South Korea ferry disaster

At least 25 people are believed to have died after a passenger ship capsized in waters of South Korea’s southwestern coast.

According to Press TV, South Korean authorities said that 271 people still remain missing after the ship carrying 475 passengers and crew capsized on Wednesday.
At least 179 people have been rescued from the passenger ship.
Bad weather and strong currents are hampering the search for survivors of the disaster.
Sources say the missing people, many of them schoolchildren, may remain trapped inside the sinking five-story ship.
Media outlets quoted a coast guard official as saying, “Honestly, I think the chances of finding anyone alive are close to zero.”
Meanwhile, worried and angry parents of the students gathered at Danwon High School in Ansan near Seoul, while other relatives assembled on Jindo, an island near the place the ferry slipped beneath the surface.
The long delay in rescue operations is causing fury among families waiting for word of passengers who were mostly high school students traveling with several teachers to the resort island of Jeju for a four-day trip.
