Defence Minister: Iran Stands against Enemies’ Mischievous Acts

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi underlined Iran’s vigilance against enemy moves, saying that mischievous acts cannot fool Tehran.

“Unfortunately the untruthful supporters of human rights and democracy now want to make Iran align with their contemptible policies but have, thus far, failed to do so, and God willing they will never manage to do this deception in the world,” Vahidi said on Tuesday.

“The Islamic Iran is attentively watching the situation and will stand against mischievous acts in due time,” he added.

“Under such conditions when the world is ruled by deceptive policies, the Islamic Republic is growing increasingly powerful and honorable on international scenes,” he reiterated.

Iran has always lashed out at the western countries for using human rights issues as a tool and pretext for pressurizing independent states to conceal their own crimes and wrong deeds.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry in 2010 issued a report on the violation of human rights by the US inside and outside its borders, and urged Washington to join the international conventions which prohibit such crimes.

It was stressed in the Foreign Ministry report that the United States, as a self-proclaimed standard bearer of defense for the human rights in the world, has despite the international community and the UN demand, and even despite President Barack Obama’s promise, still not shut down the horrendous Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib prisons.
