Deputy FM acknowledges release of 78 Iranian sailors in Somalia

Deputy Foreign Minister in Consulate, Parliamentary and Iranians’ Affairs Resided Abroad acknowledged the release of 78 Iranian sailors arrested by the Puntland autonomous government in Somalia.

According to IRNA, Hassan Qashqavi said that by persistence of the ministry and holding talks the release of the abducted sailors became possible
Qashqavi added “The process included meetings with Somalian officials to pardon the sailors on the occasion of fasting month of Ramadanˈ, saying that the sailors were released and returned home on Tuesday.
He added that the number of the released sailors was 78 and five confiscated vessels of them were also released.
