Diplomacy of unity against diplomacy of division/ unity, key issue in current era

Prominent figures at the conference on Islamic unity as the diplomacy among Muslims in Tehran highlighted the strategy as one of the most effective ways to meet the economic and popular demands of Muslims warning against enemies to follow the diplomacy of division against Muslims across the globe, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Hujjat-ul-Islam Taghavi, Iranian cleric, began the meeting with congratulatory message on birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi (AS), twelfth Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) calling all pro-unity figures to assist the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in its mission in an attempt to achieve a great Islamic might.

Maryam Mojtahedzadeh, referred to the diplomacy of Islamic unity as a soft strategy and highlighted the role of women in protecting the Islamic Revolution and also cultural commonalities.

Hassan Ghashghavi, deputy of the Parliament and former foreign ministery spokesman, underlined necessity of solidarity between Shia and Sunni diplomats in the international arena and said,” Diplomats should struggle for world peace and resolving issues of Muslims, stabilizing families and taking the gap between the poor and the rich in the world.”

Otman Salari, called unity as a basis for the Islamic nation and expressed regret that social networks have challenged the younger generation with their identity stressing the diplomacy of unity as the most effective strategy in the present era to meet the economic demands and benefit the public.

He lauded the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought for its massive efforts for Islamic unity and called people from all walks of life struggle for a practical and moral proximity since the enemies are in constant effort to expand the diplomacy of division in contrast to our efforts for realization of the diplomacy of unity.

He underlined the role of leadership in boosting Islamic unity.

Dr Zahedi, in this meeting, referred to the necessities of unity in the current era and said,” The prospects of unity, necessities and challenges should be outlined so that the solutions are found” adding,” Key civil institutions should also be involved for more cooperation besides the elites and thinkers who should play their role in this mission.”

Hamidreza Taraqqi, closed the meeting referring to importance of unity in the present situation of the Muslim world and stressed allotment of resources for shared interests proposing launching Islamic mobilization unions to contribute in line with the diplomacy of unity.

He underlined the role of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in the path of unity among all Muslims and said,” World Forum should not recognize itself as the sole advocate of unity in the world of Islam rather it should invite other institutions to contribute for the end.

Attended by renowned Shia and Sunni figures as well as pro-unity activists, conference on “Implementing Diplomacy of Islamic Unity in the World of Islam” kicked off in the Iranian capital of Tehran on May 10, 2017.
