Discussions on the Closure of Iraqi Airspace to Hostile Entities Held in Iran

A senior Iraqi security official and the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps met to discuss strategies aimed at preventing Iran’s adversaries from accessing Iraqi airspace.

Iraq’s National Security Adviser, Qasim al-Araji, held talks with the Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami, during a meeting in Tehran on Monday.

In a recent meeting, the two officials engaged in discussions covering a spectrum of topics, notably the bilateral relations between Tehran and Baghdad. They delved into the specifics of a security agreement between the nations, underscored the importance of managing the shared border, and addressed measures to prevent adversaries from exploiting Iraq’s airspace.

At the assembly, the chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps praised the “brotherly” relations between Iran and Iraq.

He commended the Kurdistan Regional Government for its backing in executing the security agreement with Iran, as well as the efforts of a high-level committee overseeing the deal’s implementation.
