Islamic Countries Condemn Israeli Aggression on Gaza

Syria condemned Wednesday Israel’s “atrocities” in the Gaza Strip, and called for action from the international community.

“The Syrian government condemns the heinous atrocities committed by the Israeli enemy’s army against the Arab Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,” it said in a statement carried by the Syrian official news agency SANA.

It urged the international community to “pressure Israel to stop the sinful aggression on our people in the defiant Gaza Strip.”

“Despite the risks of aggression, Syria will always remain faithful to its national and historical duty to the Palestinian people to recover their stolen lands and establish a free Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital,” it added.

For its part, Egypt recalled its ambassador to the occupied territories, according to a statement by Egyptian President Mohammad Mursi’s spokesman.

Mursi decided to “recall Egypt’s ambassador to Israel,” spokesman Yassir Ali said in a statement broadcast on state television.

He also ordered the foreign ministry to summon Israel’s ambassador in Cairo and asked the Arab League, based in Cairo, to convene an emergency meeting of foreign ministers.

Mursi “offered his sincerest condolences, in the name of the Egyptian people, to the Palestinians for their martyrs,” Ali said in his terse statement.

Iran also condemned the attack on Gaza considering that “they reflect the brutal nature of the Zionist entity.”

As Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast denounced Israel’s aerial strikes against the Gaza Strip causing the martyrdom and injury of tens of Palestinians, it denounce condemned the International Community’s, and the Human Rights organizations in specific, silence towards the Israeli entity’s brutality against the Palestinians.

Mehmanparast further considered that “their silence pushes the Israelis to go on with their crimes against humanity in Gaza.”

For its part, the Tunisian Presidency issued a statement condemning the critical escalation in the Gaza Strip, and considered that the unjustified assaults that Israel is committing expose the entire regional to another explosion.

The Tunisian Presidency spokesman indicated that this outrageous aggression came at a time when the Palestinian factions agreed on pacification, and after the Israeli prime minister claimed that his government was ready to resume peace negotiations with the Palestinians.
