Iraqi forces continue to advance towards the center of Tikrit from the southern axis of operations, inflicting heavy losses on militants. Iraqi air force conducted airstrikes, creating a cover for the ground forces which advanced towards the municipality council. And then were able to take a few houses near Tikrit hospital.
The aim of the Iraqi forces is now to advance towards the hospital where information shows that it is full of explosives and has snipers in it.
Iraqi ground forces and the Iraqi police contonue to advance towards the center of Tikrit. Now we are standing at the municipality council where Iraqi forces are being targeted by snipers of ISIL militants that are standing in Tikrit hospital. Now Iraqi forces are trying to advance towards hospital. More and more they were able to get closer to the hospital. Few meters separates between them and ISIL militants.
And they said that in few hours more advances are going to be achieved.Despite some media information saying that popular mobilizations retreated from their positions we were able to interview some of them at the southern axis, who are still fighting.
Iraqi forces said that the U-S led coalition conducted a few airstrikes in Tikrit. However the strikes were not that effective.
