The president said that cooperation is the best available option while expressing hope that Iran and Group5+1 will achieve results in their upcoming negotiations.

‘I was astounded by the stance of the EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton vis-à-vis a letter the by Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili because Jalili had only expressed Iran’s readiness for cooperation within a legal framework and mutual respect,’ President Ahmadinejad said in a televised interview with IRIB’s channel two.

Jalili in his letter (dated May 7) to Ashton welcomed talks with the Group 5+1 based on a common ground and in a pressure-free atmosphere.

Iran and the Group 5+1 held two rounds of multifaceted talks in Geneva in December 2010 and in the Turkish city of Istanbul last January.
