Egypt police fire tear gas to disperse anti-Morsi protesters

Egyptian anti-riot police have fired tear gas to disperse thousands of furious demonstrators protesting against a new constitutional declaration that grants the president sweeping new powers.

On November 22, Morsi issued a new declaration, under which no judicial body can dissolve Egypt’s Constituent Assembly that is currently writing a new constitution, allowing the president to take “any decision or measure to protect the revolution.”
