Egypt warns Turkish PM Erdogan against ‘interventions’ and ‘unacceptable’ accusations

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel-Aati says that Turkey’s accusation against the sheikh of al Azhar is an effort to portray as a military coup the ouster of President Morsi.

Ahmed Muhammad Ahmed el-Tayeb is the current Grand Imam of al-Azhar and president of al-Azhar University.
According to FNA, quoting Al Youm Al Sabeh, the Egyptian spokesman also termed as ‘unacceptable’ the recent accusations raised by the Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan against the Egyptian sheikh, threatening that Cairo would come up with due response which may bear terrible consequences for Ankara.
Earlier, Egypt had warned Turkey against what it called Ankara’s interventions in that country’s affairs.
Turkey-Egypt relations grew dark following ouster of Morsi on July 3 this year.
