Enemy wants religious rift in Iran

Iran’s interior minister says the enemies of the country are trying to harm the sacred establishment of the Islamic Republic through creating religious and tribal discord.

The enemies are trying to create a rift among people and damage their solidarity by raising issues such as Shia and Sunni, Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar said on Saturday.

“The enemy does not know that such criminal actions only increase the unity and solidarity of the people with the establishment,” ISNA quoted Mohammad-Najjar as saying.

A bomb explosion in the Iranian city of Mahabad in West Azarbaijan Province killed twelve people and injured 80 others on Wednesday.

Mohammad-Najjar arrived in Mahabad on Friday to look into the terrorist attack, which took place as people were watching a military parade.

The Iranian police said on Wednesday they had arrested two people in connection with the terrorist attack.

Earlier on Thursday, Iran’s Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi said that the group behind the terrorist attack had been identified.
