Era of US dominance in West Asia over: Iran Army commander

The Iranian Army chief hails the nation for braving numerous enemy threats on its path of progress, and said while the era of the US’s dominance in West Asia has come to an end, the Islamic Republic has attained a determining position in the region.

Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi made the remarks on Thursday in a ceremony to mark the seventh martyrdom anniversary of Major General Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam, known as the architect of Iran’s missile program.

A military officer in the Aerospace Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Tehrani Moghaddam lost his life in an explosion at a missile base in 2011.

Mousavi further said, “Today, we can make the case that the era of America’s dominance and hegemony in West Asian is over, while the era has begun for Iran as the frontrunner.”

Mousavi also enumerated a set of political, economic and security threats posed by enemies to Iran and the resistance front in the region, among them the emergence of the Daesh terror in Iraq and Syria, US and Saudi crimes in Yemen as well as an Iranophobia media campaign coupled with economic sanctions and political pressure.

“Despite the diversity of the threats…dear Iran is moving forward on the path of progress at a fast pace and stands today in a determining position in the region,” he said.

The Army chief further referred to the Israeli regime’s multiple defeats in the wars it has waged over the past years, including the 33-day offensive against Lebanon in 2006 and the collapse of the terrorist groups it supports.

“The illegitimate Zionist regime is frustrated with the ineffectiveness of the cotton dome,” Mousavi said, referring to Israel’s so-called Iron Dome missile system, which has repeatedly come under criticism for failing to intercept the retaliatory rockets fired at the occupied territories during the regime’s wars.

The Israeli entity has been resorting to warmongering in an attempt to consolidate its position, he said.

Mousavi also referred to Israel’s support for terror groups in Syria, saying such evil policies are meant to reduce the pace of the regime’s downfall.

‘US power on the decline’

Speaking at the another ceremony in Qazvin Province, the IRGC chief commander also echoed Mousavi’s remarks on the diminishing power of the US.

“The US’s authority and dignity is on the decline, and the day will come, much sooner than expected, for the full elimination of this satanic power,” said Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari.

“The US four decades ago could not do any damn thing [against Iran], let alone today’s America that is on the decline,” he added.

Jafari further said Islamic Revolution’s four-decade-long history has seen consecutive US defeats in the face of the Iran nation’s firm resolve.
