Europe must not let US mar Iran ties

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad welcomes the expansion of “amicable and respectful” ties with Europe, warning European countries that their relations with Iran should not be affected by the US.

The era of hegemony, slavery and World War II has ended and all governments and nations must currently cooperate to help establish a “better world,” said President Ahmadinejad in an interview with Euronews TV channel on Wednesday.

He added that the Islamic Republic is interested in cordial and constructive ties with European countries and stated that the world’s economic and political affairs can be managed “in a better way.”

The Iranian chief executive emphasized the importance of reinforcing unity to “fairly” manage the world so that human beings will enjoy equal rights.

He pointed to the ongoing situation in Afghanistan and said, “The country’s problem can be solved only through respect for the rights of the Afghan people. Iran and the European Union can have constructive cooperation in this respect.”

He noted that European countries are countering the Iranian nation without any reason and added, “We can have appropriate political and economic ties in line with the interests of our nations.”

Ahmadinejad pointed out that Iran and Europe can enjoy broad cooperation in technical, political and cultural fields and noted that the Iranian people have never inflicted damage on Europe.

“Although certain European countries inflicted heavy damage on the Iranian nation, it has an eye to the future,” he concluded.
