FBI investigating(!) murder of black Muslim boy

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating a possible hate crime in which a black Muslim youth was crushed to death in Kansas City, Missouri.

“We’re working jointly with the Kansas City Police Department,” FBI spokeswoman Bridget Patton said on Friday, adding “but we have opened this as a civil rights investigation into a potential hate crimes violation.”

Abdisamad Sheikh-Hussein, who was a 15-year-old Muslim from Somalia, was hit by an SUV on Thursday night after he left the Somali Center of Kansas City and was going to get into a car.

A witness reported seeing the boy “fly through the air” before the the sport utility vehicle ran over him.

The young man, who had his legs severed in the accident, was rushed to the hospital but later was pronounced dead.

The investigation began after a Kansas City Muslim group and a Kansas group, an affiliate of a national organization, called for a probe into the incident.

Zulfiqar Malik, a board member with the Heartland Muslim Council, said, “We ask federal law enforcement to investigate this attack as a possible hate crime.”

According to the Kansas Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Somali Center officials have previously said that a man had been threatening Muslims in Kansas City for months.

Several months ago, the SUV was seen with an anti-Islamic message in broken English written on its rear window, the officials noted.

Also, CAIR-Kansas Chairman Moussa Elbayoumy, in a news release on Friday, urged federal authorities to pursue the matter seriously.

So far, police have arrested a suspect, identified as 34-year-old Ahmed H. Aden, while he was trying to flee on foot.
