FBI releases video of Navy Yard shooter

The FBI has released surveillance camera video of Navy Yard Shooter Aaron Alexis and has said there is “no indication that Alexis was targeting individuals” in a shooting that left 12 dead.

On September 16, Alexis, a 34-year-old former Navy reservist and IT contractor, entered the Washington Navy Yard, holding a sawed-off Remington shotgun and using a valid badge. In a rampage that lasted about an hour, he killed 12 people with the gun he had purchased two days earlier, before being killed by a US Park Police officer.
Police are investigating Alexis’ cell phone and personal computer for evidence that might lead them to the reason why he started the massacre. According to AP, records recovered from his belongings show mental health problems.
Valerie Parlave, the assistant director of the FBI’s Washington field office, said there are “indicators that Alexis was prepared to die during the attack and that he accepted death as the inevitable consequence of his actions.”
Parlave said Alexis had the delusion that he was being controlled by extremely low frequency or electromagnetic waves.
