Three firebombs have detonated in the Greek capital, Athens, injuring at least one woman, officials said.

The bombs, which consisted of camping gas canisters, exploded at different locations in the center of the capital on Monday.

One bomb went off at the fifth floor of an apartment building in central Athens at 8 a.m. local time. The building is located near the political office of the Secretary-General of the Greek Ministry of Justice, Transparency & Human Rights.

A woman was injured in the incident as she was emerging from her apartment.

The second device blew up earlier in the day outside a building housing Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research. The third bomb detonated outside a branch of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Ministry.

“We are sure that the new attempt to introduce violence into public life will be condemned” by the country’s politicians, said government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou in a statement.

Several firebomb attacks have taken place across Greece over the past years as a way to express opposition to the government. The attacks take place mostly at night and outside government offices, banks or other symbols of wealth.
