At least ten people have been killed and thousands of others forced to move to higher elevations in the worst Central Europe flooding over the past 70 years.

On Tuesday, at least 10 people were confirmed dead in Czech Republic. About nine others are reportedly missing.

Hundreds had to be rescued from their homes in other countries like Germany, Austria, Poland, and Switzerland following days of heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, waters from three swollen rivers gushed into the old town of Passau in southeast Germany.

On June 3, four people were reported dead in Austria and Czech Republic.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas declared a state of emergency on June 2 and promised relief aid.

The Czech Republic capital, Prague, is preparing for more flooding as the Vltava river is continuing to rise.

Evacuations also took place in Switzerland after officials in Basel said the Rhine River rose to a dangerously high level.

Firefighters and emergency workers have been mobilizing to help clear roads, assist with evacuations, and set up anti-flood barriers.

Central European rescue teams are continuing their search for survivors.
