Iran, Iraq Agree to Increase Educational Cooperation

Iran and Iraq agreed to boost educational and training cooperation as part of their broader plan for increasing mutual cooperation, an Iranian official announced on Friday.

Head of Iran’s Technical and Vocational Training Organization Koroush Parand said on Friday that Iran and Iraq have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for expanding cooperation in the fields of education and vocational training to promote employment opportunities in their job market.

The MoU is to broaden mutual cooperation in line with their growing international cooperation, the Islamic republic news agency quoted Parand as saying on Friday.

The MoU is to help both sides broaden mutual cooperation in creating enough room for employment and vocational and technical training, to benefit from Iran’s experience in eradication of poverty and unemployment, and to provide training courses on new technological know-how as well as social welfare, he said.

The MoU is to help rehabilitate the needy people, he said.

Iran and Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, in 2003.

Both sides are working on a series of plans to take wide strides in expanding their ties.
