Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari underlined the role of the martyred IRGC Commander Brigadier General Hossein Hamadani in fighting against the Takfiri terrorists in Syria.

‘It goes without saying that if it was not due to the efforts of the martyred General Hamadani Damascus would have fallen two or three years ago and it was not known what would have come to the resistance front,’ General Jafari said, addressing the 40th-day commemoration anniversary of Martyr Hamadani on Tuesday.

General Hamadani was martyred in Northern Syria in late October.

He reiterated that all Iranian and non-Iranian combatants who are trying and providing military counseling services are playing a determining role in Syria.

‘Brigadier General Hamadani’s role was outstanding in the resistance since he was the first commander who played an important role in forming resistance in Syria,’ Jafari told reporters in Tehran on Tuesday.

‘Had it not been for Martyr Hamadani’s effective role in Syria in the past two to three years, Damascus would have fallen by now,’ he added.

The IRGC in a statement in October announced that its war veteran commander had been killed in Northern Syria, while providing military counseling services to the Syrian forces in their fight against the Takfiri terrorists.

Brigadier General Hamadani was martyred during clashes with the ISIL Takfiri terrorists in the outskirts of the city of Aleppo while fulfilling his duty as a military advisor, said the statement.

General Hamadani was in Syria to render military advice to the Syrian army and popular forces in their fight against the ISIL terrorists in the Arab country.

After his martyrdom, Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said the incident would make Tehran more resolute to put an end the war of militancy in Syria.

‘The martyrdom of Brigadier General Hamadani reinvigorates our determination to continue his path and take a harsh and strong revenge from the terrorists and their supporters,’ Brigadier General Pourdastan said in his message.
