Deir Ezzur: Gov’t Forces Capture Syria’s Largest Oilfield

The Syrian Army troops managed to drive ISIL out of al-Amr oilfield in Eastern Deir Ezzur, field sources confirmed on Saturday.

The sources said that the army men carried out heliborne operation in al-Amr oilfield in the Northeastern countryside of the newly-liberated town of al-Mayadeen and engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL, capturing the oilfield ultimately.

Al-Amr is one of the largest oilfields in Syria with almost 30,000 barrels of daily crude production, a gas station and a power plant.

Reports said earlier today that the army soldiers hit ISIL positions on the Eastern Bank of the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzur province on Saturday, seizing control of a key town.

The army men won another battle with ISIL and pushed them back from the town of Khusham in the Eastern countryside of Deir Ezzur city, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.
