The Syrian Army announced on Saturday that its soldiers and the country’s National Defense Forces (NDF) have won more battles in the Southern part of Aleppo province after hours of fierce clashes with the militant groups.

The army said that the Southern side of al-Arba’een mountains was the scene of heavy clashes between the Syrian government forces and the terrorist groups.

“Concentration centers of the militant groups near the villages of Murayqis, Abu Ruwayl, al-Sa’ibiyeh, Dalameh and Qurayaha were stormed by the Syrian army and its allies since the early hours of Saturday,” the sources added.

“The villages and their surroundings are now under full control of the Syrian forces,” the army sources said, adding, “The militant groups sustained a heavy death toll and their military hardware was damaged in the army attack.”

“The Syrian forces retook the new territories in the Northern province with the lowest casualties possible,” the sources said.

Military analyzers believe that the Syrian government forces themselves do not want to accelerate operations against the militant groups because in most cases the terrorists’ strongholds are very close to the residential areas and the army is resolved to evade civilians’ casualties as much as possible, otherwise the Northern province could be completely conquered thus far.

On the other hand, the Syrian government forces’ victories across the country in recent weeks have widen rift among the rival militant groups, so the army in waiting for the weaker militant groups due to their rivalry fights and easier conquest of the province.

on Friday, a group of militants were ambushed by the Syrian Army troops in the Southern parts of Aleppo province, battlefield sources said, adding that the army ambush claimed the lives of at least 50 terrorists and wounded many others.

The Syrian army men made a surprise attack on Ahrar al-Sham terrorist groups, killed many of them and destroyed their military grid, the sources said.

“In addition to large-scale operations of the Syrian army and its allies from the popular forces and Hezbollah fighters, the Syrian forces conduct surprise attacks on the militants’ convoys and military columns across the Northern province of Aleppo,” the sources added.

“Such types of attacks are aimed at weakening the second and third defense lines of the militants,” the sources said.

Opposition sources also confirmed the killing of 50 Ahrar al-Sham militants.
