Iraq’s top cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani has condemned burning alive of a Jordanian pilot by the ISIL Takfiri terrorists, urging all regional countries to fight the terrorist group.

ISIL’s barbaric practices further highlight the urgent need for regional nations and the international community to unite and fight to eliminate the terrorists, said Ayatollah Sistani’s statement which was read out by his representative, Sheikh Abdel-Mahdi al-Karbalai, during Friday Prayers in Iraq’s holy city of Karbala.

Ayatollah Sistani’s representative also called on the Iraqi government to pave the way for the return of displaced Iraqis to liberated areas that were previously under the ISIL control.

On February 3, ISIL posted a video online showing the Takfiri terrorists setting alight the Jordanian pilot, Moaz al-Kassasbeh.

The video showed Kassasbeh dressed in an orange jumpsuit and surrounded by flames of fire inside a metal cage.

The pilot was captured by ISIL in December when his plane came down in northern Syria during a mission against the terrorist group.

The ISIL terrorist group, with members from several Western countries, controls parts of Iraq and Syria, and has been involved in a series of heinous crimes against civilians and government forces in the two Arab countries.

In recent weeks, the Iraqi and Syrian forces have clinched decisive victories against the Takfiri terrorists and recaptured many areas.
