Great Satan US citizen defending assassination of General Soleimani has been granted $113 million from stolen Iranian assets

A United States court has granted $113 million in Iranian assets to a journalist known for his controversial support of insurgent activities globally and his alignment with Washington's stance on the targeted killing of Iran's leading anti-terrorism general. This sum is purported to be compensation for the journalist’s confinement in Iran.

Greyzone, an independent news outlet, reported on Friday that US District Senior Judge Richard J. Leon ruled in favor of Shane Bauer, his former partner Sarah Shourd, and their friend Joshua Fattal. The trio is set to receive substantial compensation, which they claim was unlawfully withheld by the United States under Washington’s sanctions against Tehran.

In 2009, Iranian forces apprehended three individuals for allegedly crossing into Iranian territory from the Iraq Kurdistan Region.

In 2011, an Iranian court issued sentences of eight years in prison each to Bauer and Fattal, following their convictions for unauthorized border crossing and espionage on behalf of the United States. Both individuals ultimately served two years, while Shourd was released on compassionate grounds after 13 months of detention in Iran.

During his imprisonment, Bauer claims to have endured “torture” inflicted by his captors, although he appears to contradict his own statements by admitting that he would provoke the guards to strike him.

The claim to the disputed sum, as asserted by Bauer, his attorney, and the judge, surfaces amid their previous outspoken criticism of U.S. sanctions. They argued that the funds seized under these measures could have been allocated to assist Iranians, notably through facilitating the procurement of medical supplies for patients.

In his ruling, the judge stated that Iran is responsible for “false imprisonment” and for the “intentional infliction of severe emotional distress” against all plaintiffs involved.

Bauer has gained significant notoriety for backing efforts to overthrow democratically elected governments in various countries worldwide, including Iran, Syria, and Nicaragua.

He has also attempted to rationalize the United States’ targeted killing of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, Iran’s and the region’s most significant anti-terror figure.

The journalist in question has a history of criticizing anti-war media personalities and independent platforms, including Grayzone.

The website characterized his journalistic career as being enveloped in controversy and doubt.

The Grayzone reports that critics have accused Bauer of advocating for U.S. interventionist policies, particularly in relation to Syria. His 2019 articles for Mother Jones allegedly endorsed the Kurdish assertions regarding the strategic utilization of U.S. military forces to capitalize on Syrian oil resources.
