Hamas decries Mar Mina Church attack in Cairo

Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, on Friday condemned the deadly attack that targeted Mar Mina Church in Helwan city in Egypt where many innocent civilians were killed and injured.

In a press statement on Friday, Hamas wished Egypt peace and stability and highly praised Egypt’s Christian community’s incessant support of the Palestinian cause and their rejection of the latest US Jerusalem move.

At least nine people were killed on Friday after an armed man opened fire at a Coptic Christian church before he was killed by the police.

Egyptian media sources reported that a police officer was killed in the attack, while a senior security source at Egypt’s Ministry of Interior said that the security forces succeeded in thwarting an armed attack on a church in Helwan city and managed to kill one of the two assailants in an exchange of fire. The other is still at large.
