A delegation from Hamas, headed by Chief Khalil Al-Hayya, arrived in Cairo on Saturday to engage with Egyptian mediators regarding recent developments in the Gaza ceasefire. This visit coincides with Israeli reports suggesting a newly softened proposal on the matter.

Sources within Hamas have reported that the Palestinian movement has not received any new proposals regarding a ceasefire in Gaza. They further assert that Israeli forces continue military operations while allegedly misleading the families of Israeli captives held in the region.

The “Times of Israel” website reported that Tel Aviv has put forth a new proposal seeking the release of eight additional captives in exchange for a 45-day ceasefire.

The escalation of hostilities has resulted in numerous massacres and acts of genocide targeting civilians, with families and entire communities being displaced. Since March 18, the conflict has claimed the lives of at least 1,522 civilians, while 3,834 others have suffered injuries of varying severity.
