Hamas Grieves Over Commander Killed in Lebanon Airstrike

The Islamic Resistance Movement, known as Hamas, has issued a statement expressing sorrow over the deaths of several of its members.

The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has issued a statement expressing sorrow over the deaths of senior commander Hassan Farhat, also known as Abu Yasser, along with his son Hamza and daughter Jinan. The three were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting their residence in Saida, a city in southern Lebanon.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of Hamas, have conveyed their condolences over the “martyrdom” of the three individuals. The group has pledged that the “cowardly policy of assassinations” aimed at their members, both domestically and abroad, will not impede their commitment to ongoing armed resistance.

Reports indicate that an Israeli airstrike took place overnight Thursday, targeting a residential neighborhood in Saida. The attack resulted in panic and damage among the local civilian population. The strike aimed at Hamas leader Hassan Farhat, who was located in an apartment on Dalaa Street, in the heart of Saida, when it was targeted by an Israeli drone.

Israeli forces have conducted multiple raids since the evening on regions in southern Lebanon, targeting areas such as al-Naqoura, Nabatieh, and Saida, with reports indicating damage to the affected sites. Additionally, an airstrike has been reported in the Wadi Ezza area in southern Lebanon.

In a defiant statement, Hamas has declared that the recent assassination of one of its commanders and his family will not impede the group’s ongoing armed resistance against Israeli forces.
