On Friday, the al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, released a statement offering condolences for the death of Brigadier General Mohammad Saeed Izadi, also known as Haj Ramezan. Izadi was the head of the Palestine section of the IRGC Quds Force.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed on Thursday that General Izadi has succumbed to critical injuries sustained in an Israeli assault several days prior.
Hamas’ military wing has reported that Haj Ramezan played a direct role in liaising with the leadership of the Palestinian resistance, primarily focusing on Hamas and its armed faction, the al-Qassam Brigades.
Palestine and its resistance movement are set to mourn the passing of Haj Ramezan, honoring his dedicated efforts and support towards their cause, a statement indicated.
The statement described him as an exceptional leader with profound influence and a hallowed duty. It emphasized his response to a higher calling to back the Palestinian resistance, highlighting his direct engagement with its leadership and his extensive support over the years.
He further communicated the apprehensions and aspirations of the resistance to his counterparts in the Islamic Republic.
The al-Qassam Brigades have stated that the Israeli forces continue to harbor the illusion that they can break the Palestinian spirit of resilience by targeting and assassinating resistance leaders.
The statement commended the Iranian populace for their resilience in confronting Israel, while also lauding the Iranian military for delivering significant setbacks to the occupying force and exposing vulnerabilities within the regime.
Iranian forces highlighted their belief that Israel can be restrained and overcome.
On June 13, Israel initiated an unexpected military action against Iran, resulting in the assassination of several high-ranking military officials, nuclear scientists, and civilians.
Over a week later, the United States joined the effort, carrying out airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities. This action has been criticized as a serious breach of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
In retaliation, Iranian military forces launched strikes on strategic locations within the occupied territories and also targeted the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, which is recognized as the largest U.S. military installation in West Asia.
On June 24, the regime announced a unilateral ceasefire without any preconditions, indicating its defeat in light of the robust and steadfast Iranian countermeasures.
