The UN Refugee Agency says around 70,000 Syrian Kurds have moved into Turkey in only 24 hours after being forced from their homes by the ISIL Takfiri threat.

The agency said in a Sunday statement that it “is stepping up its response to help Turkey come to the aid of an estimated 70,000 Syrians who crossed into Turkey in the last 24 hours.”

The large-scale displacement came after Takfiri terrorists attacked villages in the Kurdish region of Syria.

The ISIL has captured some 60 Kurdish villages around the city of Kobane in Aleppo countryside, northwestern Syria.

Meanwhile, Kurdish fighters continue battling the ISIL terrorists in an effort to contain their advances into Syrian villages and cities.

In the latest clashes, nearly 20 terrorists were killed in clashes with the Kurdish fighters.

Syrian Kurds, fleeing clashes between ISIL and Kurdish fighters in the Kurdish city of Kobane and the surrounding areas, have been massing along the Turkish border since September 18.

Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus has warned that ISIL terrorists are now only about eight kilometers away from the Turkish territory.

The Turkish official has also stated that Ankara has “worked on a worse-case scenario which would see us subjected to an influx of more than 100,000 refugees.”
Some 1.5 million Syrian refugees have taken refuge in Turkey in over three years of conflict in Syria.

The Takfiri ISIL militants have seized large swathes of land in Iraq and Syria. They have carried out heinous crimes in the two countries including mass execution of people.
