Heikal slams Mursi’s stance towards ‘Israel’

heikalVeteran Egyptian historian and thinker Mohamed Hassanein Heikal criticized the country’s President Mohammad Mursi for his stance over the Palestinian issue and Israel.

Heikal told BBC that he was not pleased with Mursi’s policies concerning the Palestinian issue.

Touching on the Israeli settlement expansion policies, Heikal bemoaned Mursi for not taking any stance against the regime.

He said no one has demanded Mursi to launch war against the regime at the moment however he must at least criticize the regime’s policies towards the occupied al-Quds city and the settlement expansion.

Heikal noted that the Muslim brotherhood charter never allows silence towards the Israeli transgression towards the holy Quds.

Turning to the Syrian crisis, Heikal warned about any foreign intervention in the country. He also said Russia would not allow other countries to carry out their unilateral policies in the country.
