Mikdad: we will continue work in spite of disagreements

20140130-005842_h525128Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, stressed that the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic came with clear and accurate instructions from President Bashar al-Assad as to put an end to bloodshed and stop terrorism in Syria and restore security and stability.

In an interview with al-Mayadin TV, Mikdad added, “We will continue work in spite of the disagreements that exist even between the Russians and the Americans who called for the conference, and we will not be misguided; the first item of Geneva 1 Communiqué is stopping violence and terrorism and UN Envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, presented a paper today to deal with this issue.”

Mikdad said, “… We told Brahimi that the opposition delegation in Geneva is a faction of a faction of the coalition and so the rest of the opposition factions should take part in the coming rounds of talks.”

He stressed that the Syrian official delegation is committed to finding a peaceful solution through a political process led by President Bashar al-Assad who is a symbol for Syria and a guarantee for its unity according to the opinion of the majority of the Syrian people who can choose their president and leadership through elections.

Mikdad added that the US decision to continue arming the terrorists in Syria is a new crime committed by the US administration against the Syrians.
