Houthi fighters killed 40 foreign-backed Salafi terrorists in North Yemen

332564_Yemen-militantsAt least 40 Salafi terrorists have been killed in three days of clashes between Houthi fighters and foreign-backed Salafi terrorists in Yemen’s northern province of Sa’ada, a report says.

The latest clashes erupted in the town of Damaj on Wednesday and lasted for three days.

“The casualties were all Salafis and that at least 200 more people had been wounded” during the fighting, Salafi spokesman Abu Ismail al-Hajouri told Reuters on Friday.

There was no independent account of the clashes and no immediate report of any Houthi casualties.

Damaj has been the scene of the bloody clashes between Houthi fighters and foreign-backed Salafi terrorists in the province of Sa’ada in recent weeks.

Houthis, a Muslim group led by Sheikh Abdel-Malek al-Houthi, said in a Wednesday statement said that the Salafi groups are igniting strife in the region by bringing thousands of foreign fighters to Damaj.

Yemen’s Islamic Houthi movement draws its name from the tribe of its founding leader Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi.
