Idlib: Over 150 Terrorists Killed in Syrian Army’s Liberation Operation in Tens of Villages, Towns

Over 150 terrorists have been killed and scores more have been wounded in the Syrian Army troops’ operation against the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) in Southeastern Idlib, fields sources said on Saturday, adding that tens of villages, small towns and farm have been freed too.

The sources said that the army forces – who launched their attacks on Al-Nusra’s positions from different flanks in Southeastern Idlib – managed to drive the terrorists out of tens of villages, small towns and large farms.

They went on to say that the army’s artillery units and aircraft pounded terrorists’ strongholds and supply lines, and destroyed tens of command centers, especially in Tal Maq, Tal Mardikh and Saraqib regions, pinning down the terrorists behind their positions.

The sources confirmed that over 150 terrorists, mostly from Chechnya and Turkistan were killed and over 10 heavy military vehicles and a large volume of equipment were destroyed in the army operation.

They added that a number of the terrorists’ field commanders, including senior Commander odf Ahrar al-Sham Dibu Abdulhamid Atman and Mohammad Abdulhamid Koraj, are among the dead terrorists.

Military-affiliated sources reported on Friday that the units of the Syrian Army’s Tiger Forces and 4th Mechanized Division have swooped through two more towns in Southeast Idlib during recent hours after capturing 8 other settlements earlier in the day.

The towns have been identified as Sheikh Barakah and Rabit Mousa.

The latest advance now puts the Syrian Army within three kilometers of the militant-held town of Sinjar.

Sinjar has immense strategic value. It is a crossroad town that commands the way to the Abu al-Dhohour military airport (a highly sought objective of the Syrian Army) as well as the general traffic routes between Northeast Hama, Southeast Idlib and South Aleppo provinces and is a major stronghold used by the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Nusra terrorist group.
