IINVU portal officially launched

Islamic countries launched a network of universities to boost scientific and technological ties between 57 countries of the world.

Representatives from some Islamic countries officially launched Inter Islamic Network on Virtual Universities (IINVU) to provide Islamic countries an opportunity for more scientific and technology exchange, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

In a ceremony held in the Iranian capital Tehran, IINVU was officially launched by the coordinator general of COMSTECH, Professor Atta ur Rahman and Arsalan Ghorbani, Iran’s deputy of Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

Lunching the portal was approved in the thirteenth gathering of COMSTECH, Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation among members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation OIC, held in Islamabad back in 2009.

This network is actually in charge of supporting the potentiality and creation of virtual universities in OIC members, informing and aiding the exchange of professors, students, experts and scientific discoveries among members of OIC.

57 countries of OIC are members of COMSTECH and the newly launched network of IINVU will join the virtual universities of all these member countries.

Some economical and technical justifications for launching this network include: Saving millions of dollars per year in construction of educational and research spaces, buying equipments, construction of library and dormitories, improvement of products and services quality and also competition in E-learning and distance learning fields.

Ambassadors from Iraq, Syria, Tunisia, Iran and Pakistan were among the participants of the ceremony.
