Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called on world powers to ratchet up diplomatic pressure on Iran over its peaceful nuclear energy program.

Addressing the pro-Israeli lobby, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), in Washington on Tuesday, Netanyahu said the world powers should reverse their easing of sanctions following a landmark deal with Iran.

He expressed regret that Iran has been allowed to continue enriching uranium under the deal it signed last November with the six world powers – the United States, France, Britain, Russia, China and Germany.

Iran and the six countries inked an interim deal on Tehran’s nuclear energy program in Geneva, Switzerland, on November 24 last year. The Geneva accord, dubbed the Joint Plan of Action, took effect on January 20.

Netanyahu also reiterated his call for the dismantling of all nuclear activities in Iran.

Iran has repeatedly emphasized that its nuclear energy program is meant for civilian purposes.

The country is in talks with the six world powers to fully resolve the decade-old dispute over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

Israel’s allegations against Iran come as the Tel Aviv regime, which is widely believed to be the only possessor of nuclear arms in the Middle East, reportedly maintains between 200 and 400 atomic warheads.

Furthermore, the Israeli regime has never allowed any inspections of its nuclear facilities and continues to defy international calls to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
