Information Minister: Elections are genuine opportunity for Syrians to express their will

Minister of Information Omran al-Zoubi said that the presidential elections are a genuine opportunity for the Syrians to express their will and select their candidate for presidency.

In an interview on the Syrian TV late Sunday, Minister al-Zoubi said that the majority of the Syrians are willing to participate in the ballots as they want security and stability back to their homeland.

He said the elections’ day will witness a huge turnout in all provinces, adding that there are delegations of many countries that will accompany the event in addition to more than 200 media outlets.

He said the plurality experience in Syria is the first of its kind and no one can dictate his will on any citizen, adding that the elections are stemmed from the constitution and there is a higher judicial committee, comprising a number of judges, tasked with governing the voting process.

“No side can interfere in the work of the committee whether from in or outside the country,” he said.
