Iran President: Killings of resistance leaders will not diminish the ongoing struggle against zionist occupation

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has affirmed that the targeted killings of leaders and commanders within the resistance front will not undermine the Islamic nation's resolve against oppression and occupation.

On Friday, Pezeshkian released a statement following Hamas’ announcement that its leader, Yahya Sinwar, was killed in action during a direct clash with Israeli forces in southern Gaza.

He stated that the adversaries must understand that the martyrdom of commanders, heroes, and leaders will not diminish the resolve of the Islamic nation in its resistance against oppression and occupation.

He quoted Ismail Haniyeh, a former Hamas leader who was assassinated by the Israeli regime, as saying, “When a leader falls, another rises.”

The president described Sinwar as having shown “heroic” perseverance, highlighting footage that captures him facing occupation forces despite sustaining injuries.

Pezeshkian emphasized that resistance against oppression and the quest to return independence and liberation to those whose lands have been occupied constitute a significant campaign and a noble objective that cannot be derailed by the targeted killing of its leaders.

The President of Iran has condemned the death of a Hamas leader, describing it as both “painful and distressing” for nations advocating for freedom globally, and especially for the resilient population of Palestine. He further characterized the incident as “a glaring indicator of the relentless offenses committed by the occupying regime, which he accused of atrocities against children.”

In a statement, the official extended his condolences to Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, as well as the resilient people of Palestine in Gaza and freedom-loving communities worldwide, following the martyrdom of Sinwar.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on his X account that the assassination of Sinwar is poised to serve as a rallying point, inspiring the ongoing resistance efforts.

He stated that the Hamas leader, undeterred by the threat of death, aspired to martyrdom in Gaza, courageously fighting until the very end on the battlefield.

Sinwar, a prominent and influential leader within the Palestinian resistance against Israeli occupation, and a key figure in Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, has been identified as a high-priority target on Israel’s most-wanted list.

He survived numerous assassination attempts both preceding and following the events of October 7 and was pivotal in overseeing and orchestrating resistance operations in Gaza over the past year.

Contrary to claims by Israeli and Western sources suggesting that Sinwar was concealed in underground tunnels throughout the blockaded Palestinian region, recent footage reveals him actively engaged in combat operations on the ground against occupation forces.

In an interview with CNN, Mustafa Barghouti, the secretary general of the Palestinian National Initiative, remarked that Sinwar has once again let down the Israeli people.
