Lebanese Sunni scholar criticizes Ahmad al-Assir

One of the Lebanon’s Sunni scholars has told Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir; “don’t be hostile to the Resistance, don’t be aligned with Israeli regime, although it is clear that at the end, you will go to their lap.”
According to Al-Manar Sheikh Maher al-Hammoud said: “critics of Resistance had not done anything except uttering hollow words and lies about God and his Prophet.

Sheikh al-Hammoud, who is one of the leading scholars in the city of Sidon in Lebanon criticized Ahmad al Assir and said: “the Lebanese scholar thinking says that Jihad (a personal struggle in devotion to Islam especially involving spiritual discipline) is obligatory.”

Al-Hammoud added: “Hezbollah and Iran have not done any harm to Sunnites, but it’s these reactionary patterns that distort the identity of Sunni Islam.”

On the other hand, Zaher al-Khatib, a former Lebanese minister also considers actions of Al-Assir to be a prelude to a civil war in Lebanon. Al Khatib called for cooperation from all Sunni scholars and wise men in this regard.

He referred to the opposition of majority of the Sunnite in Lebanon to create sedition among the Shiite and Sunnite faith and said: “if some are still looking for such temptations, Lebanese people and army and other forces in the country will not tolerate such sedition.”

Ahmad al-Assir is making crisis in Lebanon with the help of Saudi money.
