As the conflict in the Gaza Strip stretches into its 43rd day, Israeli forces persist in their intensive military operations, following the decision by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to retract from a previously considered ceasefire agreement. This renewed outbreak of violence is occurring with the backing of American political and military resources, against the backdrop of a largely muted response from the international community.
Reports suggest that Israeli forces have conducted multiple airstrikes, directly impacting residential areas and worsening the already critical humanitarian conditions. Since early March, a strict ban on essential food supplies has been in place, heightening the risk of famine among the local populace.
On Monday night, a tragic incident unfolded as Israeli artillery strikes targeted tents sheltering displaced families in the Al-Iqlimiya area near Khan Yunis. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least five individuals, including three children, and left over 40 others injured. Local emergency services quickly responded, transporting the victims to the British Hospital and the Red Cross for urgent medical attention.
In a significant escalation of hostilities, the Israeli military has not only conducted shelling but also demolished residential structures, while launching artillery strikes on areas in the eastern part of Gaza City. The assault was compounded as naval vessels opened fire on sites off the Rafah coast. Additionally, artillery shells struck near the Abbad al-Rahman Mosque situated on al-Sikka Street in the al-Zeitoun district.
Israeli military actions persisted in Khan Yunis, resulting in the deaths of two young men, Hamza Muhammad Suleiman Zaqmat, 22, and Muhammad Nabil Suleiman Saqr, 26, amid the bombardment in the Qizan al-Najjar region.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced on Monday that 14 bodies were recovered, with additional deaths occurring during the ongoing raids by occupying forces.
Reports indicate that since March 18, 2025, the number of fatalities has risen to 2,222, while 5,751 individuals have sustained injuries.
Reports now indicate that casualties from the Israeli aggression have climbed to 52,314 fatalities and 117,792 injuries since October 7, 2023.
