Curfew in Ferguson extended for second night amid protests

375686_US police brutalityThe dictator governor of Missouri has extended a curfew imposed in the town of Ferguson through Sunday night and into Monday morning due to continued angry protests over the police fatal shooting of an African American teenager last week.

Officials say the curfew is imposed and extended in order to protect the residents of the town, NBC news reported.

The city has been witnessing angry street protests since a white police officer shot and killed unarmed 18-year-old Michel Brown while he was walking down the street last Saturday.

Police fired smoke and tear gas to disperse demonstrators who gathered in a St. Louis suburb early Sunday.

Another group defied the curfew and held a protest while shouting “No justice! No curfew!”

At least one person was shot and several others were arrested during clashes with police.

Police claim the wounded person, who is in critical condition, was shot by an unidentified attacker.

Many Americans criticize what they call rampant brutality and discrimination by police forces in the country.
