348065_Baghdad-violenceAt least nine more people have been killed and several others injured in violent attacks in several Iraqi cities, according to security and hospital sources.

All of the deadly incidents occurred on Monday, two days after at least 28 people lost their lives across Iraq in bombings and other incidents.

The attacks happened in the capital Baghdad as well as the cities of Muqdadiyah, Mosul and Samarra.

In Samarra, gunmen killed two policemen and an anti-Qaeda tribal fighter, and then decapitated them.

In Baghdad, gunmen shot dead three people, including a police officer.

Two policemen were gunned down in the northern city of Mosul.

Mortar fire in Muqdadiyah killed one person and wounded three others.

The incidents are the latest in a string of attacks across Iraq that have left more than 870 people dead since the beginning of this year.

In a recent interview, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki accused Saudi Arabia of supporting terrorist groups in his country.

“The current terrorism originates from Saudi Arabia,” Maliki said.

The Iraqi premier also blamed Riyadh for sponsoring terrorism in Syria.

Earlier this month, Maliki told UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon that the Saudi regime should be held accountable for the recent wave of terrorist attacks in Iraq.

Iraq’s Interior Ministry has said that militants have launched an open war in Iraq and they want to push the Middle Eastern country into chaos.

“The country is currently facing an open war from bloodthirsty sectarian forces that aim to plunge the country into chaos,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement issued on July 30, 2013.

According to the United Nations, at least 8,000 people lost their lives in Iraq in 2013.
