Iran Asserts Legitimate Self-Defense Rights in Talks with E3, Says Foreign Minister

A high-level diplomatic meeting involving Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, his counterparts from the E3 nations, and the European Union’s foreign policy chief has concluded. Both parties have expressed a commitment to reconvene in the near future.
According to reports, the extensive discussions in Geneva extended for approximately three and a half hours.
Araghchi, along with other high-ranking diplomats, engaged in discussions on Iran’s nuclear program with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, and France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
Reports indicate that discussions centered predominantly on the future of the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
A meeting convened at the United Nations’ European headquarters was initiated following a request from the three European countries that are signatories to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
In a statement to the press following the end of discussions, Iran’s leading diplomat declared that Tehran remains firm in its stance against engaging in negotiations with any entity as long as Israel maintains its aggressive actions toward Iran.
He stated that Israel must halt its aggressive actions and alleged crimes against the Iranian people, emphasizing that there will be no negotiations with any party until such measures cease.
Iran has affirmed its commitment to maintaining its legitimate right to self-defense, expressing profound concern over the absence of condemnation regarding Israel’s severe acts of aggression.
Araghchi emphasized that the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program is intended for peaceful purposes and continues to operate under the oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
He emphasized that Iran remains committed to ongoing discussions with the three European nations and the European Union, expressing readiness for another round of negotiations in the near future.
Earlier today, Araghchi addressed the United Nations Human Rights Council, asserting Iran’s commitment to vigorously defend its territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and security.
He emphasized the urgent need for global action, urging nations, every mechanism, and institution within the United Nations to confront the aggressor, put an end to impunity, and ensure that those responsible for ongoing crimes and atrocities in the region are held accountable.
A request has been made by an individual with a lifelong commitment to dialogue and diplomacy, who also possesses firsthand experience as a veteran of the war imposed by Saddam’s regime, emphasizing their capability to defend their cherished nation.
