Iran, Brazil Emphasize Expanding Agricultural Cooperation

Officials from Iran and Brazil stressed the need to expand and enhance cooperation in the field of agriculture.

In a joint meeting held between Iranian Deputy Ministry of Agriculture for Commercial and Development Affairs Ahmad Khani Nozari and a Brazilian trade delegation in Tehran on Saturday, the two sides discussed the development of bilateral ties and boosting the exchanges of agricultural and stockbreeding products.

During the meeting, Nozari pointed to the high potentials of Iran and Brazil and added that the two countries enjoy high capacities in the field of agriculture which can bring about more synergy between the two countries.

He expressed hope that the two sides would witness further cooperation in the exchange of agricultural products with the appropriate balance of trade.

The head of the Brazilian delegation, for his part, called for increasing the level of cooperation regarding the exchanges of agricultural products as well as taking advantage of the agricultural capacities of Brazil, especially in the field of extraterrestrial cultivation.

Since Iran is among the top four countries in the world in terms of advanced nanotechnology, he said, Brazil is willing to expand cooperation with Iran in the field of agricultural nanotechnology and transfer of technical know-how.

During the meeting, some memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed between the two countries in trade, agricultural and stockbreeding fields.
