Iran condemns attack on Muslims in Sofia


Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast condemned attack on Muslim prayers in Banya Bashi Mosque in Sofia, Bulgaria, which left several people wounded.

According to a report by the ministry’s Information and Press Bureau, he called on European officials to respect the rights of minorities and create a peaceful living conditions for all citizens.

He also described the growth of islamophobia in Europe as among the cases of human rights violations.

Criticizing European Union for not adopting deterrent policies in this respect, he urged them to promote the most obvious principle of peaceful coexistence and create an atmosphere free from racism for citizens.

He also called for rapid punishment of the perpetrators of the attack on the mosque.

Based on the released reports, Ataka Coalition attacked Muslims in Banya Bashi Mosque in Sofia which left several people and five policemen wounded.
