Video- Iranian culture week kicks off in Ukraine

The week of Iranian culture has kicked off in Ukrainian capital Kiev. While the last year’s exhibition was concentrated on various kinds of Iranian art, national traditions, food, Iranian national clothing and decorative art, this years the show revolves around Iran’s achievements in oil and gas industry, high technology, engineering, medical equipment and car industry.

Iranian and Ukrainian officials say after the last year’s recession, bilateral trade between began to recover rapidly. Ukrainian exports to Iran have grown by more than 50%, while the country’s imports rose by 60%. Officials hope for increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries to 2.5 billion dollars.

Ukraine’s economic relations with Iran have focused on heavy industry, notably on steel and aircraft production. Ukraine mostly exports iron, steel, machineries, locomotive parts and oilseeds to Iran and imports nuts, dried fruits, ceramics and tiles from that country.

The show is expected to draw the attention of the Ukrainian businessmen, private entrepreneurs as well as the government sectors in a move to boost the ties between the two countries.

Ukrainian businessmen and entrepreneurs say they welcome events such as this exhibition.

The sides will also to discuss ways to further bilateral trade and economic relations. The Ukraine-Iran forum on investments will round off the Kiev’s show.
