Iran dismisses Canadian accusation of interference in countries

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Wednesday dismissed Canadian allegations of interference in the internal affairs of neighboring countries, saying that they were not based on the realities on the ground in Iran and the region.
According to Postmedia News, Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird, speaking in Cyprus on April 4, echoed Bahraini allegations that Iran is behind much of the unrest in the kingdom.

“Iran’s interference in some of its neighbors’ internal political affairs is something that’s distinctly unhelpful, and it’s never motivated by good,” Baird said following a visit to the Persian Gulf region.

Mehmanparast said, “It would be better if the Canadian government put a logical and realistic approach and a return to the known principles of Canada’s foreign policy on its agenda instead of leveling allegations against others.”
