Iran Dismisses Rumors of Imminent US Agreement, Denounces ‘israeli’ ‘Fake News’

Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has underscored the nation's dedication to diplomatic efforts while criticizing what he described as media disinformation intended to undermine the current negotiations with the United States regarding Iran's nuclear program.

In a statement posted on his X account on Thursday, Araghchi addressed increasing media speculation concerning a purported imminent agreement between Tehran and Washington.

Media outlets are rife with speculation regarding a potential near-term agreement between Iran and the United States. However, uncertainty remains over whether such a deal is on the horizon. Iran has expressed a commitment to achieving a diplomatic solution that benefits all parties involved. Nonetheless, reaching this goal hinges on finalizing an agreement that comprehensively lifts all sanctions while safeguarding Iran’s nuclear rights, including its right to enrichment, according to statements made.

Araghchi emphasized that substantial advancement is attainable solely through dialogue and negotiations, rather than through media narratives, in reaction to a report released by FOX News.

A recent intelligence assessment has reported that Iran is persisting with its nuclear weapons program, raising concerns about the potential use of these developments to deploy long-range missiles.

Fox News has reported that recent intelligence appears to challenge the earlier declaration by U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. In March, during a testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Gabbard stated that the American intelligence community still evaluates that Iran is not in the process of developing a nuclear weapon.

Araghchi has strongly criticized what he labels as disinformation tactics intended to disrupt diplomatic efforts, specifically targeting Israel for allegedly exploiting Iran to undermine American critics. He described these tactics as “low,” asserting that even for Israel, such maneuvers undermine sincere attempts to address tensions through dialogue.

He stated, “The route to an agreement must be negotiated at the table, not through the media. Regarding the recent misleading reports surrounding Iran-U.S. diplomacy: employing Iran as a means to target American critics is a new low, even for Israel.”

The United States and Iran have engaged in five rounds of nuclear discussions since April 12, with further negotiations anticipated as both nations strive to forge a new agreement. A key point of contention remains the extent of uranium enrichment.

Trump stated on Wednesday that he has personally cautioned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against disrupting the ongoing discussions.
